Art Deco

So I decided to treat myself this afternoon after spoiling the kids this morning with their Easter Egg Trail. Whilst Daisy was sleeping I popped off to the Art Deco sale that was being held a few miles away - whilst Karl looked after the kids. I had a wonderful time and it was truly breathtaking....full of so much fabulous stuff. Here is a photograph of my purchases. Do bare in mind that I live in Surrey, UK so its not so much of a bargain but a good vintage find if you know what I mean. Not everything was from the 20's, 30's & 40's. Anyhow I came away a very happy bunny!!!

Art Deco Sconces | Vintagelights.com

Very rare pair! . Over the years we have lusted after this Vintage American Art Deco slip shade wall sconce. So rare this is our first pair ever, with over 15 years in the hunt. Has hallmarks of Lincoln Mfg. Co., Detroit. These antique lighting fixtures date from early to mid 30s when Art Deco was at its glory. One of the very best examples of American Art Deco lighting available and these do not disappoint. The shape and design remind me of the pendulous blossoms of the Wisteria plant. On the back plates a vertical trellis runs up the middle, the branches weaving along the bottom of the trellis and then the cascade of blossoms and leaves along the sides to the bottom. The pattern on the front of the glass incorporates flowers, branches, and leaves. Sconce backs are made of cast aluminum, which have been re-polished to bring them back to an almost mirror like sheen. Unique vintage original glass shades which seem to drape over the bulb (up to 75 watts each). Glass in almost perfect condition with no noticeable chips and no cracks. Not only beautiful but substantial as well. 14 1/2 inches high 5 1/2 inches wide 5 1/2 inches projection and 4 1/4 inches across the back plate 3 available
art deco chandelier | Vintagelights.com

From the late 20s to mid 30s comes this wonderful antique art deco inspired vintage lighting fixture. This vintage chandelier retains its original finish and patina, with just a few touch ups to cover paint drips and smears, mostly around the edges of the ceiling canopy. Glass shades are in excellent condition with no cracks or noticeable chips. The original vintage slip shades still have vibrant colors of tan to orange which really show nicely when lit. Here they are shown lit with 15 watt bulbs and they will pale a little with higher wattage bulbs. The 5 outer sockets will handle 75 watts each while the center socket under the bottom shade should be no higher than 50 watts. Great deco styling seen mostly on the slip shades while the light fixture itself is restrained to allow the beautiful decoration of the glass to be the focal point. Drop as shown: 26 inches which can be adjusted Width: 19 inches

Art deco inspired silver -2003

ART DECO inspired Seen something simular in an antique shop 5 years before. The basic idea kept playing over in my mind so I sat down one day and made this. I wanted to have it ready to wear on my daughters wedding. I didn't make that deadline. The piece that I had to make for her and my son was more important at the time www.flickr.com/photos/dubmblond/2324076073/in/set-7215760.... The making of them took all my courage, time and energy. Material: silver (925) Winter 2003

Art Deco incised panel with image of a man with a balance scale from the facade of the landmark McGraw Hill Building on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The building was rebuilt several years ago; in the rebuilding process the complete facade was dismantled and later re-applied to the new building. These panels and other ornamentation were the reason for the facade transplant. Tenuous Link: crouching man.
